MBR is abbreviation of Membrane Bioreactor, a combination of 2 basic steps in one unit:
- Biological digestion of organic.
- Biomass separation by micro-filtration.
In aeration tank, the suspended biological species are maintained, the reaction is executed as other normal biological reaction, the treated wastewater is extracted from biological biomass by micro-filtration.
There are 2 types of MBR:
- MBR put under the water level inside the aeration tank, so absorbent treated wastewater is sucked out by pump.
- MBR put outside aeration tank and wastewater is recycled with high pressure.
The absorbent flow is high velocity. The membrane is cleaned by high pressure air or water with chemicals.
